Ep. 25 - Whiskey House Nashville: Sipping Kentucky Owl and a Special Whiskey Bottled in 1941
Jason and Bradford are back on the porch—but this time, it’s the legendary Whiskey House in Nashville. They're joined by special guest and Whiskey House founder, John "JB" Brittle Jr., for a memorable afternoon of rare pours, rich conversation, and good smoke. The importance of creative, charitable giving is a cornerstone of the afternoon.
The guys brought along two Kentucky Owls—Magistrar and Batch 12, the current standard offering. JB takes it back to the beginning with Batch 8, a coveted early release from over a decade ago. Then comes the surprise: JB opens a bottle of Mt. Vernon Bottled-in-Bond Rye, a 6-year-old rye bottled in 1941—the last release before WWII paused the label for years. It’s a taste of history and kindness amongst friends in the truest sense.
The Whiskey House is one of Nashville’s best kept secrets. There are only two ways to experience it - as the guest of a Whiskey House trustee or at a tasting experience through a donation made to a charity or non-profit who has partnered with Whiskey House.
While sipping and swapping stories, the trio fires up Padron 1926 Series cigars from Mission Cigars—an ideal match for the moment. The conversation weaves through the craft of master distillers and the art of blending, but it also turns toward something deeper: the idea that it truly is more blessed to give than to receive. JB reflects on the joy of sharing whiskey and wisdom, and how generosity—whether with bourbon or your time—can shape a meaningful life.
This episode is a toast to legacy, community, and the simple joys of a good pour and a better purpose.
